The Lizard King octave fuzz pedal is a deluxe heir to EHX and JHS’ previous collaboration on the Lizard Queen. The Lizard King not only inherits the Lizard Queen’s cold-blooded, all-consuming fuzz tones but also re-tools existing controls and adds new ones. The resulting pedal gives guitarists expanded options, while bassists can also bask in the ’70s-inspired goodness without wrecking their tone. The Lizard King replaces the original’s Sun/Shadow rotary knob with a Sun/Shadow voice toggle that brightens or darkens the effect. The switch to a toggle makes room for brand-new Blend and Tone controls, so you can retain your dry signal for increased articulation (vital for bass guitar) and roll off highs for fire-breathing low-end on driving rhythm guitar or bass. Like the original, the EHX Lizard King rewards those who dynamically use instrument volume knobs. Lower input levels clean up the Lizard King’s sound, while max input levels will supercharge gain for mix-dominating character that’s perfect for guitar solos and brave bassists.
